“I work principally in abstraction with a particular interest in colour resonance, tonal reference and and surface tension. Whether working in limited subtle palettes or dynamic chromas my current paintings are deeply influenced by felt experience and observed organic and mineral forms. A study in traditional oil painting method using many layers of transparent glaze and opaque has enabled an exploration of optical effect and the dynamic of brushstroke. Academic research in art and mental health and ongoing clinical work with children informs my art practice."
